To retrieve the PIN you go to the website which will lead you to a sign in or registration. 2020 so I haven't been able to file after rejection notice.
In my case I never got a letter from IRS Dec.2019 or Jan. The thing is no matter how you file you will need this number.
Before shut down I went to the local IRS building and was told that the PIN is needed to file for safety -identity theft- to file.
